High Resolution Dynamic Pressure Measurement using Deflectometry and the Virtual Fields Method

Full-field measurements of low-range differential pressures are of great value in fluid dynamics. Current approaches do not offer universally applicable solutions for this problem. The present project combines a highly sensitive optical setup utilizing optical deflectometry measurements with the Virtual Fields Method (VFM) to reconstruct pressure on flat plates under dynamic loading from turbulent air jets.
This methodology allows investigating the mean flow and turbulent flow events in high spatial and temporal resolution. Simulated experiments are used to assess the accuracy of the method.
