The People Behind the Science

Bharath trained in Naval Architecture at IIT Madras before completing his MS and PhD in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Minnesota, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at UT Austin. He was a Lecturer at Imperial College London before joining Southampton in 2010, where he has served as Head of Department and Head of the Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics research group.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, an Associate Fellow of AIAA, and Associate Editor for Experiments in Fluids and Flow. He serves on the TSFP (Turbulence and Shear Flow Phenomena) committee and will chair the symposium in 2026.
